5 Simple Keys

How To Hit Solid

In this month's newsletter I'm going to write about how to strike the golf ball solidly.

But before I do I'd like to share with you what went on at this years PGA Show in Orlando FL.

The PGA Show, held in Orlando FL the last week in January is over and this year the focus was on technology, force plates and pressure readings as well as Dopplar Radar.

The big winners were companies called  Swing Catalyst and Flightscope.

Swing Catalyst measures how the pressure is moving during the golf swing.  As you probably have heard, our new DVD - "Pure Strike - 5 Simple Keys to Consistency" is based upon what  the greatest players of all time have in common.  One of these Keys is how they moved their weight/pressure during the swing.

Swing Catalyst verified our findings!

Flightscope, a 3D Dopplar Radar System that accurately tracks the flight of the golf ball to within .5 degrees also was a big hit!

With this technology coaches/students can view 21 data points and finely tune their  swing  path and clubface - 2 of the 5 Simple Keys - just like the PGA Tour players do.

We are fortunate to have Flightscope here in the desert and use it to dial in your best shot shape!

Our DVD, was also a big hit...whew...and has the golf world talking about the simplicity of how these 5 Keys can transform anyones game.

We knew the information wasn't ground-breaking in and of itself, but we also knew that it had never been presented, or taught like this before!

Coaches and students alike love how simply these Keys are and they can easily be incorporated into a players game.

But enough about the PGA Show.

This month's topic is all about Hitting It Solid

I get questions almost daily from players around the world asking me how to strike the ball solid.  The answer is within the first 3 Keys.

Key #1 - Steady Head.  If your head is moving all around it is very difficult to control the Low Point of the golf swing and without Low Point control you can hit it fat or thin.  Does that sound familiar?

Key #2 - Weight/Pressure Forward.  The average of the games best players range from 70-95% forward at Impact depending on what club they are swinging.  The shorter the club the more pressure forward.  The average for poorer players is 50-55% forward at Impact - in other words they are falling back instead of moving forward through the ball!

Key #3 - Flat Left Wrist.  When the left arm and clubshaft form an "inline" condition the "lever" is extended from the left shoulder down to the clubhead.  If they get out of line then the player is only using a small portion of the lever, thus less power.  The Flat Left Wrist is the second part of Low Point control.

Again...controlling Low Point is critical to hitting it solid!

So take a look at your game and ball striking and if you are having issues with hitting it solid look into these 3 Keys for the answer.

One last thing.

I have 2 openings left for our February 19-20 golf school here in the desert.  If you would like to grab one of these spots contact me asap...these are first come first served!

Until next time, keep it in the short grass!
